International Fair of Modern and Contemporary Art

March 31–April 2, 2017 – Milan, Italy

SACI MFA in Studio Art students are heading to Milan this weekend as a class for a busy itinerary with planned visits to miart, the Accademia di Brera, the Prada Foundation, and the Hangar Bicocca Foundation.

miart, the 22nd edition of the International Fair of Modern and Contemporary Art, is held from March 31 to April 2 at fieraMilancity (Pavilion 3) in Milan. This year, 175 international galleries from 14 countries will exhibit works by modern masters, established contemporary artists, emerging talents, and experimental designers divided in five different sections.

Numerous leading galleries are exhibiting in Milan for the first time: 47 Canal (New York), A Gentil Carioca (Rio de Janeiro), The Approach (London), Art:Concept (Paris), Marianne Boesky (New York), Canada (New York), ChertLüdde (Berlin), Deweer (Otegem), Gladstone (New York/ Brussels), Hollybush Gardens (London), Alison Jacques (London), Antoine Levi (Paris), Meliksetian Briggs (Los Angeles), Stuart Shave/Modern Art (London), Nahmad Project (London), Nathalie Obadia (Paris/Brussels), Gregor Podnar (Berlin), Jocelyn Wolff (Paris), and Zeno X (Antwerp).

Curated sections:

In the section Generations, a selected group of international curators are presenting dialogues between works by two artists from different generations in booths shared by two different galleries.

Decades is another curated section designed like an itinerary that crosses the 20th century, divided by decades. Each booth, through a monographic or thematic exhibition, presents a key moment of the decade in question.

Emergent is a curated section for emerging galleries whose programming focuses on the most recent generation of artists. The selection of galleries has been devised by the

On Demand, curated by Oda Albera, is a cross/cutting section with a brand/new concept, devoted to context/based art. 

Object, is a selection curated by Domitilla Dardi, Design Curator, MAXXI Architettura, Rome, of galleries active in the promotion of experimental design, decorative arts, and limited editions, whose activities are the result of close collaboration with designers.
